About Limerick ...

The city of Limerick is located on one of Europe's finest rivers, the Shannon. Once a Viking City, Limerick is now the capital of the Shannon region. Besides being known as the capital of the region, it has also become know as a great place for shopping, for dining and also for sports. Limerick is less than 30 minutes from the region's airport – Shannon International Airport. Of course for those not interested in any of the above activities there is still plenty to see and do in Limerick City including paying a visit to The Hunt Museum and King John's Castle.

Contrasting with the city, County Limerick is a place of quiet beauty and rural charm. Its scenic landscape is pleasing to the eye from rural mountains of Ballyhoura, the beautiful Golden Vale in the east of the county through to the tidal estuary of the River Shannon. Its said that county Limerick can lay claim to having the prettiest village in Ireland – Adare with its old worlde thatched cottages and medieval churches.

Some attractions worth visiting in county Limerick include the Foynes Flying Boat Museum and Lough Gur, habitat of Neolithic Man.
